Top utilities net metering policies in Utah:

  1. Rocky Mountain Power: offers net metering to customers with solar energy systems up to 25 kW in size. Any excess energy generated is credited to the customer's account for use during times when the system is not producing enough energy.

  2. City of St. George: offers net metering to customers with solar energy systems up to 25 kW in size. Any excess energy generated is credited to the customer's account for use during times when the system is not producing enough energy.

  1. Federal Tax Credit: A tax credit equal to 26% of the total system cost is available for residential and commercial solar installations through the end of 2022.

  2. Rocky Mountain Power Solar Incentives: Customers of Rocky Mountain Power can receive a one-time incentive payment based on the size of their solar system.

  3. Utah State Tax Credit: A tax credit equal to 25% of the total system cost, up to a maximum of $1,600, is available for residential solar installations. Commercial installations may be eligible for a tax credit up to $50,000.

  4. Utah Solar Rights Law: This law ensures that homeowners' associations cannot prohibit solar installations on their properties.
